I wrote this book, because these stories reside in my heart, and I thought I should share them. It’s a method of leaving my memories behind for my grandchildren and all other children of Dominicans who did not get the opportunity to enjoy Dominica the way it was. This is my tribute to my village of La Plaine in beautiful Dominica.
The Shirley Allan Trilogy
Sharon Dorival –
Shirley Allan is a wonderful person and storyteller. Her short stories in “Shirley Allan Trilogy” described a forgotten time. It is a most satisfying read. I thoroughly enjoyed Shirley’s character development from selfless mango keepers to heroic youths who challenged them. She loves her life, respected the elders, enjoyed the holidays and festivities
The book teaches the concept of loyalty. We see that reflected in the union of friends on their early mornings mango runs, and her beautiful heart beats steadily for these childhood memories- the little sweet things. The book teaches that love is the driving force behind her choices; it leads and supports them through the adversities they must overcome before well-deserved happiness is finally theirs.
I highly recommend reading this book because it shed light on life’s difficulties and shows how people in that specific village really used to live.
It’s so real and reflects on many of our daily life thoughts and activities as young children. I’ve enjoyed it! And loved its wording too!
I think I will read it over again.
This is truly a wonderful collection. A trilogy of true love and high adventure. An original and deeply moving drift from the fictional world of slaying dragons, and rescuing damsels in distress. The cover is appropriately illustrated and the reader gets exactly what is promised- a tale of true love, hate, greed. This is a children’s book that will capture your imagination and keep your interest until the end. You will embrace the spirit of brilliant and utterly unique escapades while soaking in a bit of uninhibited culture.
