Artist, photographer, writer. Giftus John was born in St. Joseph, Dominica, West Indies. Giftus’ talent in creative writing in Dominica first appeared when he won first place in the National Day Poetry and Short Story Competitions in both categories in 1975. He was a regular participant and contributor to literary programs on the national Radio Station and contributor to the now defunct Star Newspaper., the editor of which was the late Phyllis Shand-Allfrey. His publications include four volumes of poetry, a collection of short stories, and two novels
